The current version of the ECO Scheme, known as ECO2t, is due to finish in September 2018.
However, the Government is using the period until then to hold a consultation and decide what will happen after that. Current thinking is the the scheme will continue in a different form for a further 4 years. However, there is no guarantee.
The proposals are to call it the Help to Heat Scheme with a greater focus on tackling fuel poverty – where households spend a disproportionate amount of their income trying to keep their homes warm.
If qualifying rules change, some householders who qualify for Oil Boiler Grants under current rules, may not in future. It is therefore important to apply for an Oil Boiler Grant now, whilst ECO Funding is available.
